Soldiers marching to war form an image of a silver fern – one of the national symbols of New Zealand. This sculpture forms a stand for a plaque recognising the point where Wellington soldiers left for World War 1. In the background modern day Wellingtonians can be seen enjoying the harbour for peaceful, recreational purposes.

I love this symbol Sonya, it means a lot I am sure to the NZers. I first saw this on Facebook as a tattoo and whilst I dont necessarily like tattoos, this one looks great, very artistic and most of all carries a lot of sentiment 🙂
