How much gold does the reserve bank have in its vaults?
None. Most of the gold reserves were divested in the 1960s. The last remaining gold was sold in 1991.

The smoking in this photo, taken while on holiday in rural New South Wales, is deliberately ostentatious. It was taken after smoking in pubs had been banned back home in New Zealand, so it was somewhat of a novelty. Smoking inside in public was banned in New South Wales as well the following year.

“Air New Zealand Teal” dates back to the airline’s earlier incarnation as Trans Empire Air Lines. The colour is disappearing from New Zealand skies as the airline transitions to a black and white livery.
