During a recent family gathering my parents were keen to get a photo of all their grandchildren together. As you can see my nephews weren’t too happy about sitting still. They were about to be bribed by my mother (their Oma) with chocolate which brought out the smiles – but I love the staunch look on their faces in this candid

Summer does indeed seem a long way away on a chilly Wellington Sunday in late July.
But the Weekly Photo Challenge theme of Summer Lovin‘ this week brought to mind February’s trip by the Lovelocks Sportsbar Social Club to Tauherenikau races where I snapped my friend Blair. It was the second time we have made the Waitangi Day trip over the hill – but it looks like it is already becoming a summer tradition
For a red photo this week I’ll go with the bright Wellington tug boats standing out as they head out into the gloom of a July afternoon
For reasons that I can’t really explain I quite like taking photos of letterboxes – even ones like this which has nothing particularly interesting about it other than its aqua colour
