I choose the route for my long walk today (its a public holiday) with the couple of specific photo shots in mind. I thought the pukeko were going to let me down – the first group I spotted were too far away for my 18-135 lens.

Luckily I spotted a pair including this one just before I had to turn off the road from the stream.
