How I see the world

Hikitia

The Hikitia floating crane was built in Scotland in 1926 and took 84 days to sail to Wellington.

Now she is an icon on the Wellington waterfront

She has been involved in many notable salvages including a Catalina flying boat and the Wahine, whose mast stands near-by in Frank Kitts park as a memorial to the 53 victims of New Zealand’s worst modern maritime disaster.

This shoot was a good excuse for a lunchtime walk in the sunshine. It was also suitable subject for the Yakisugi JPEG recipe which I have been wanting to test out for some time.
