One Word Photo Challenge: Windy
Akau Tangi
Akau Tangi is one of five sculptures that make up the Meridian Wind Walk overlooking Wellington’s Evans Bay. Akau Tangi is the original Maori name for the Bay and references the lamenting sounds of winds in the Bay.
The description on sculptures website explains that “Akau Tangi consists of 10 stripe painted poles, each supporting a kinetic conical element that vanes with wind direction and spins on its axis according to wind speed, producing dynamo-operated LED lighting that brightens or dulls according to wind speed. Aeolian flute and whistle tones are produced from each of the 10 sculptures by wind-driven flutes at the cowl end of each form”.
I captured this shot on a comparatively calm day as my contribution to Jennifer’s challenge theme of windy.

Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Multiple Flowers
On a dreary June day in Wellington Ed’s challenge to get at least two or more types of flowers in a single picture was not going to be easy. Fortunately the rain cleared long enough for a lunchtime stroll to the Begonia House at Wellington Botanical Gardens.
Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: 2015 Week 24
I saw in the news last month that the Paris municipal authorities were removing the love locks from the Pont de Arts. My shot is what it looked like in February when I was there.
